Creative Giving
Hi Friends,
UPDATE: We have just received a nice “thank you” note from the Peace River Hospital, in Port Charlotte, for all the baby bonnets and afghans that Hal and I delivered a few weeks ago. Each piece has info on our church attached with a small piece of easily detachable yarn.
Linzy Jaconis has invited people to her home to learn to knit. This will make the “Stitches from the Heart” group grow in purpose and fun together. Hopefully, this will become the nucleus for a much needed WOMEN’S GUILD at our church.
We have been asked to knit helmet liners for our military and we have the pattern for that (note: must be made with wool yarn for fire hazard reasons).
Stitches from the Heart Group
Did you know that you are a "fiber artist?" You are if you engage in any form of craft that creates from fiber, according to current magazine articles edited by "those in the know" in crafts. A "fiber artist" is one who creates by knitting, crocheting, weaving, embroidering, needlepointing, spinning, quilting, sewing - using various fibers, i.e. yarn, thread, etc.
What greater reward and enjoyment than to create from your heart for one of our fighting men overseas, knowing that he or she is wearing one of the combat hat liners that you knitted to keep them warm. Or, for example, did you know there are over 436,000 preemies born each year in this country? Most infants, especially preemies lose most of their body heat through the head; therefore, not only are little hats cute, but highly functional.
So, friends, let's give of our creativity!
Yours in UNITY,
Joyce Connor

P.S. We happily accept donations of yarn for our church projects. Thank you!
